La cancion "As Tears Go By" fue escrita por Mick Jagger, Keith Richards y Andrew Loog Oldham, aunque en principio fue interpretada y echa popular por Marianne Faithfull y no por Rolling Stones, ya que era una balada que no se adaptaba a la imagen de la banda, segun su manager.
Los Rolling Stones deciden grabar su version en octubre de 1965, y lanzarla a principios de 1966 en la cara B del sencillo "19th Nervous Breakdown" en Reino Unido, y en el album December's Children.
El tema alcanzo el puesto Nº6 en la lista Billboard en Estados Unidos.
